Alli, one of the most popular over the counter weight loss pills available today, is actually a reduced potency version of a strong, prescription-only drug used by doctors to treat extremely obese patients who have been unable to lose weight using conventional methods.
Even in this reduced potency form, alli has become very popular, with many people claiming that they obtained significant weight loss results by using alli, together with dieting and exercise. However, the number of people using Alli for Weight Loss has reduced somewhat, following reports that the stronger, prescription-only version of alli was the possible cause of liver damage amongst users of the drug.
To date, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has not banned alli, as there has not yet been any scientifically proven link between the active ingredient in alli and liver damage. You can still buy and use alli for weight loss, although it would be best to consult your doctor immediately if you notice you have any symptoms of liver damage such as fever, excessive tiredness or dark coloured urine.
