Treating Bacterial Vaginosis

Aug 14, 2011 Author admin

Bacterial vaginosis is one of the most common genital afflictions affecting women in America. While it has no known cause, there are many ways that you can help yourself if diagnosed. Because many women do not experience any symptoms, many go long periods of time without seeking bacterial vaginosis treatment.

The forms of treatment are very simple and most simply require an antibiotic regiment. Women who are pregnant or infected with HIV should seek treatment for their BV before undergoing any surgery, as the bacterial vaginosis can cause complications with either of these particular medical conditions. While most of the symptoms can disappear after beginning the antibiotics, always finish the prescription. Even if the symptoms are gone the cause of the bacterial imbalance can remain, and without proper treatment BV has a higher chance of recurrence. Bacterial vaginosis is simple to treat and does not have many complications associated with it, but like with all medical ailments you should always treat the problem as soon as possible.
